To consider the decisions of the Place Scrutiny Committee held on 18th June, 2024.

Consideration was given to the decisions of the meeting held on
18th June, 2024.

 

It was reported that the date on the minutes was incorrect and should read 18th June, 2024 and not the 17th June as noted.

 

This was AGREED accordingly,

 

The Committee AGREED, subject to the foregoing, that the decisions be accepted as a true record of proceedings.

Consideration was given to the report of the Service Manager – Neighbourhood Services

 

A Member proposed an alternative option, as follows:-

 

(a)          that the Scrutiny Committee supports the more efficient, cleaner diesel powered vehicles, with the preference of purchasing, following the line of replacing the oldest vehicles first as set out in Appendix 1 for the fleet renewal, until such time that the appropriate vehicles and infrastructure was in place to transition to the level; and

 

(b)          the Scrutiny Committee recommends that officers and Council provide the appropriate funding for the like to like replacement of the waste and recycling fleet

 

The aforementioned proposal was not seconded.

 

Another Member proposed the following additional wording to Option 1; as follows:-

 

(a)          the Committee AGREED that the report be accepted and the Scrutiny Committee supported the replacement of Waste & Recycling fleet with the more efficient, cleaner diesel-powered vehicles until such time the appropriate vehicles and infrastructure was in place to transition to ULEV’s; and

 

(b)          the Scrutiny Committee recommends that Council provide the most cost effective appropriate funding for the like for like replacement of its Waste & Recycling fleet.

 

The aforementioned proposal was seconded and agreed.

 

The Committee AGREED that the report be accepted, as follows:-

 

(a)          the Scrutiny Committee supported the replacement of Waste & Recycling fleet with the more efficient, cleaner diesel-powered vehicles until such time the appropriate vehicles and infrastructure was in place to transition to ULEV’s; and

 

(b)          the Scrutiny Committee recommends that Council provide the most cost effective appropriate funding for the like for like replacement of its Waste & Recycling Fleet (Option 1).
